　実数の表記法として知られる十進小数と連分数は、それを定義する漸化式に類似があり、その類似点に着目して連関数と呼ぶべきものを形式的に定めることができる。本研究の目的はこの連関数展開が数学的に意味のある定義になるかどうかを明確化し、数学的対象とするとともに、いくつかの基本性質を定式化することである。　第2章では連関数展開および連関数近似の定義を、それらが持つ意味合いと十進小数や連分数との類似から逸脱しないように明確化した。第3章では、この連関数近似の近似の次数が上がったときにどう値が変化するかについて評価し、値が変わらないとき、及びより正確な近似となるときの条件を与えている。第4章では、連関数近似が近似の次数を無限に大きくしたときにどのような値に収束するか、元の実数に収束するような関数の条件などに言及している。第5章では展望として、想定される連関数の研究の広がりを紹介している。
Decimal numbers and continued fractions, both representations of real numbers, share an association through their defining recurrence relations, therefore, an object termed a ”continued function” can be formally defined. This study aims to determine the mathematically meaningful definition of the continued function, establishing it as a distinct mathematical entity and formulating its fundamental properties. In the second chapter, the author defines the continued function and its approximation, ensuring adherence to the aforementioned association. The third chapter provides an analysis of how the value of the continued function approximation varies by increasing its degree, along with conditions for maintaining the value and those for becoming more accurate. The fourth chapter explores the infinite limit of the approximation and investigates the functional conditions under which this limit equals the original real number.
