The Women’s Movement and Quota System of the Period of 1990 to 2020 Year of Japan: Did the women’s movement of Japan of the time ask for introduction of the quota system in the political field?

Japan is a country which has not attained most the improvement of the female too little representation in the political field in an industrialized capitalist nation（G7）. Some researchers have said that it is the cause that a quota system was not introduced into Japan to suitable timing. Why wasn’t the quota system introduced in Japan at the time? Although positive work of the women’s movement towards quota system realization was said to have contributed to introduction of the quota system greatly in other countries, how was action of the women’s movement of Japan of the same time? Did the women’s movement of Japan of the time ask for introduction of the quota system in the political field? I used and investigated literature and data of those days, in order to reply to this question. In Chapter 1, I checked by antecedence research that positive work of a women’s movement had played the large role when a quota system was realized in the foreign country. In Chapter 2, I investigated how the quota system would be recognized in the writing of women’s studies and feminism those days. In Chapter 3, I conducted general analysis of nationwide Japanese women’s movement organizations, using “Directory of National Woman’s Organizations in Japan” as data. And I verified whether it was that the nationwide women’s movement organizations of Japan of this time asked for introduction of the quota system in the political field. And“ finally”, I answered to the“ first” question of this paper. The conclusion which I got through analysis of this paper is that the women’s movement of the great portion of Japan of the time is continuing taking synthetically the posture which is not positive to introduction of a quota system.
