Fandom Nationalism in China: The Current Status and Development Factors

With the rise of social media, nationalism has evolved in the digital sphere, where fan communities not only express national identity but also actively shape public discourse. Situating fandom nationalism within the broader trajectory of Chinese nationalism, this paper analyzes its key characteristics and primary driving forces, including social media dissemination mechanisms, group identity reinforcement, and the influence of governmental forces. By systematically investigating this phenomenon, the study aims to elucidate the formation logic and internal dynamics of fandom nationalism, providing insights into the evolving landscape of nationalism in contemporary China.
