A Study on Anxiety in the Stressful Situation

The authors attempted to analyze the responses about the anxiety of nursing students in the stressful situation (i. e. drawing blood in practice). The psychological tests used in this study were the State and Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and the Anxiety Check List devised by the authors. The authors selected 11 students as a high anxiety-responded group and 11 students as a low anxiety-responded group out of 79 nursing students. STAI was performed three times : first in the non-stress situation, the second, just before drawing blood, and the third just after drawing blood. The authors analyzed the differences on each of the three situations between two groups. The results were summarized as follows: ( 1 ) the authors found significant difference on the scores of A-state on STAI and on the scores of Anxiety Check List between two groups; ( 2 ) the significant correlation was observed between the scores of A-state on STAI and the scores of Anxiety Check List in the high anxiety-responded group.
