Report of Nursing a Patient with Abulia and Autism

A patient who was diagnosed as symptomatic psychosis with paranoid state was nursed. This case was a 55-year-old woman who had been in hospital for about three years. She had marked social isolation and withdrawal caused by delusions. It was considered that if we gave her relevant motivations, she could become more active. Therefore, nursing interven¬tions were planned from the viewpoint of the assessment of the patient's interests and social ro¬les in her life. We also practiced nursing interventions while taking a walk, cooking and doing stretching exercises with her. As a result, we found that her expressions and behaviors became slightly active and the nurse-patient relationship was much improved. It is suggested from these results that proper planning should be recommended for encouraging the patients with abulia and autism to participate in various activities.
