本研究は，福島県中通り地域に着目し，自らを被災者であると主張できないサイレント被災者の心理的健康状態を把握し，支援の必要性とそのあり方の示唆を得ることを目的とした。福島県とその県に所在する大学の学生90 名および保護者41名に質問紙調査を行った。震災による喪失意識は個人差が大きく，獲得意識では「人との絆の重要性への気づき」が多かった。喪失意識だけでなく，獲得意識を持つことが心理的健康と関連することが示唆され，震災を通しての獲得意識をもつことが心理的健康の回復，とりわけ外傷後成長に重要であると言える。被災者が震災で得たものもあったということが意識できるような支援やサイレント被災者の自由な語りの場を提供することも必要であると考えられる。
The purpose of this study was to research the psychological effects of the experience of the Great East Japan Earthquake in2011, especially psychological characteristics of disaster victims examined from the point of view from the free description. Participants who lived in Fukushima prefecture and its neighboring regions completed a questionnaire. The result showed that not only many participants lost something, but also they got something in the disaster. The participants who lost something and got something had higher posttraumatic growth, resilience, and subjective well-being and hardiness than those who lost something and got nothing. So the acquisition from the disaster was related to the recovery and the promotion of mental health.
