抄録	A local existence theorem, of Peano type, is proved for the initial-value problem for the ordinary differential equation, $y′=F(x, y)$, where $F$ is continuous as a function of $(x, y)$, and has values in a compact subset of a real Banach space $B$. The proof employs Euler-Cauchy polygons in $B$. The proof does not require any previous knowledge of any theory of definite integration of Banach-valued functions of a real variable.
